Dianne Chappelle, MPA, RHIA, corporate director of HIM operations at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, talks about the changes she and her HIM associates faced in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in one of the nation's hot spots. Dealing with paper documents for patients at field hospitals; mobilizing an HIM department with an off-site team that had never worked remotely before; having CDI professionals who are also nurses deployed or redeployed to assist with active patient care—hear about these and other unique situations and challenges the pandemic posed and how Ms. Chappelle and her team handled them.
